Waterville Seniors Named Section III Scholar-Athletes

Waterville Jr./Sr. High School seniors Braydon Decker and Kadence Barton were named 2025-26 NYSPHSAA Section III Scholar-Athletes. As one of the highest honors in Section III athletics, this recognition reflects outstanding academic and athletic achievement.
The students were formally recognized during the 37th Annual Section III Scholar-Athlete Dinner at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena on June 8.

To be named a scholar-athlete, students must maintain a grade point average of 90 or higher while participating in a varsity sport. At the end of the school year, each school within Section III nominates two graduating seniors — one male and one female — to receive the honor.

Braydon was recognized as a three-sport athlete in soccer, basketball and baseball. He plans to attend the State University of New York at Oswego. Kadence was recognized as a four-sport athlete in cross country, soccer, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field. She plans to attend Stonehill College. Their exceptional leadership, hard work and ability to balance rigorous academics with multi-sport athletics serve as a wonderful example for the entire school community.
