Waterville Central School District Unveils Updated Eagle Mascot Logo
The Waterville Central School District is proud to reveal an updated secondary logo featuring its Eagle mascot.
In response to valuable feedback from the school community, the District refined the secondary logo to better capture the strength, spirit and pride of the Waterville Eagles. While maintaining the core identity — featuring the head of a bald eagle with a bold gold beak facing right — the updated design introduces a modernized, dynamic aesthetic with enhanced visual impact and expression. It continues to utilize the District's official purple and gold color palette, ensuring seamless continuity across all school branding while elevating its overall visual quality.
The Waterville CSD partnered with the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) BOCES School Communication service to create the updated logo, which was carefully crafted after months of hard work and collaboration. Working closely alongside the OHM BOCES creative team, District leaders engaged in an intentional design process centered on listening to stakeholders and translating their vision into a modern visual identity. The resulting secondary logo reflects a shared commitment to delivering a mark the entire Eagle community can wear with pride.
While the logo will primarily serve athletic programs and spirit wear, its use is not limited exclusively to sports. The District’s primary logo — featuring a purple ‘W’ with gold wings extending upward — will remain unchanged.
Both the primary logo and the original secondary logo were initially introduced during the 2023–24 school year following the District's adoption of the Eagles mascot in 2023. This updated secondary logo builds on that foundation, visually conveying the core traits of an eagle: sharp focus, strong leadership and athletic energy.
“From the beginning of this process our goal was to create something the entire Eagle community could rally behind,” said Superintendent of Schools Zachary Abbe. “I believe this new design truly captures the strength, spirit and pride that define the Waterville Central School District. I'm excited for our students, staff and fans to wear this logo with confidence as we continue to build on the foundation we've established as the Eagles.”
The District will begin a gradual rollout of the updated logo across school facilities, digital communications, athletic gear and District merchandise in the coming months.
