P2 Spirit Week at Memorial Park Elementary
The halls of Memorial Park Elementary were filled with extra sunshine from March 23-27 as students celebrated The Positivity Project (P2) Spirit Week. While our students work on their character strengths all year long, this special week gave us a chance to dive deep into two very important traits: gratitude and aspiration.
To practice gratitude, students sent "Tiger Grams" throughout the building, hand-writing sweet notes of thanks to the staff members who support them every day. They also spent time dreaming big for Aspiration Day, where the school was filled with future doctors, artists and leaders as students dressed up as what they hope to be when they grow up.
Students also extended their positivity beyond the classroom by participating in a service project supporting We Rise Above the Streets Recovery Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit that provides food, clothing and essential resources to individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty. Students and their families collected a total of $550 and a large collection of new socks were to be donated.
To wrap up the week, we were honored to welcome Mr. Al-amin Muhammad, the founder of the organization, for a special visit. He met with our students to graciously collect the donations and shared his powerful story of overcoming adversity. His message served as the perfect capstone to the week, encouraging every student to live up to their full potential and keep spreading kindness wherever they go.
P2 Spirit Week reinforced the importance of character while empowering students to see the real-world impact of their actions. By combining gratitude, aspiration and service, Memorial Park students demonstrated how small acts can make a meaningful difference.
