Dr. Jennifer Spring, Superintendent of Schools
Dr. Jennifer Spring is a life-long educator with over 30 years experience. Prior to her arrival at Waterville, she served as the Superintendent of the Cohoes City School District in the Capital Region for 5 1/2 years. A native of the Mohawk Valley, Dr. Spring began her career as an English as a Second Language teacher in the Utica City School District. She also served as a principal in the Utica CSD for six years and as the Principal of New Hartford Senior High School for ten years.
A graduate of the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, Dr. Spring also holds a Master of Education from Boston University, a C.A.S from SUNY Cortland and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from The Sage Graduate School. Her background includes being a Fulbright Scholar in Poland and Argentina, a United States Information Agency English Teaching Fellow in Guatemala, an ESL textbook author with Pearson, and an adjunct instructor at Utica College. She completed the Superintendent Development Program through SUNY Oswego. Dr. Spring also served as a member of the New York State Council of School Superintendent’s LEAF Board.
Dr. Spring has earned a number of accolades throughout her career, including recognition as a Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association, an Educator of Excellence by the New York State English Council, the Outstanding Doctoral Student at the Sage Colleges and a recipient of the Raymond R. Delaney Award from the New York State Council of School Superintendents.
Dr. Spring is the mother of three grown sons and was proud to have served as their high school principal. She is honored to be leading the students, families, staff and the community of the Waterville Central School District.
