Hello! I am so excited to be teaching at Waterville for my thirdyear! I love teaching and believe that if a student cannot learn the way youteach, one should teach the way they learn. As every year, look forward to having my very own classroom, alongwith meeting my student's families and friends :) While learning more about allof you throughout the school year, here is a little more about myself.
I graduated from Whitesboro Central School in 2004. From there, I moved west to Niagara Falls where I received my degree in Childhood Education1-9 with a minor in Social Studies. I loved how pretty Niagara Falls was but Imissed the tight knit community in central New York (and Utica greens!) I movedback to Utica and substitute taught for a year while focusing on my passion for teaching.
After substitute teaching, I grew more and more interested in Special Education. I knew I had educate myself more thoroughlyon how to reach all learning styles. This is more easily said than done! I found that so many students today are falling in between gaps. These gaps may lay with skills (social, life, emotional, etc.) or core subject areas such as reading or math. I knew Saint Rose would prepare me for ALL learners. I received my Masters in Special Education in May of 2011. I currently am dually certified in New York State with a Childhood Education Certification as well as Special Education Certification. I found my degree in Special Education has taught me many different strategies to help reach all learners as well as reinforce certain skills for students.
