Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment to Accessibility
The Waterville Central School District is committed to ensuring that our website and mobile applications are accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities. We believe that public education information should be available to all members of our community, regardless of how they access the internet.
The Standard We Aim For
We are actively working to conform our digital content to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA standards. These technical guidelines, established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), help us ensure that:
- Screen Readers can accurately describe images and read text aloud.
- Keyboard Navigation allows users to move through the site without a mouse.
- Color Contrast is high enough for everyone to read easily.
- Videos include captions for those with hearing impairments.
Current Status and Timeline
We are currently in a transition period as we update our existing content to meet the new federal requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- New Content: All new information posted to this site is being created with accessibility in mind.
- Compliance Goals: Our district is working toward full compliance by the federal deadline of April 26, 2028.
