MPS Third Graders Take Top Spots in Oz Writing Contest

On June 7, Memorial Park Elementary third graders John Mack and Summer Dubach took top spots at the annual Royal Historian of Oz Writing Contest awards ceremony in Chittenango! Held alongside the Oz-Stravaganza festival, the contest invites writers of all ages to craft original tales about the magical Land of Oz and its iconic characters.

With the excellent support of their teacher, Mr. Perrone, both students earned top honors in the third grade category. John Mack placed first for his story, “New Friend Old Foe.” Summer Dubach placed second for her story, “The Witch’s Truth.”

This achievement is a wonderful example of our young Eagles applying their classroom writing skills to share their imagination with a broader audience. Congratulations, John and Summer — we are so proud of your hard work and creativity!
