READING THE FILM
Film Discussions are always informed by an active participation in the film being viewed. For this reason, we often speak of how we never "watch a movie" in Film and Life Issues. Instead, we always "Read the Film", and we must be active readers. The Reading the Film worksheets help students to keep track of almost anything that might strike them in a movie. These sheets become the basis for the discussion that follows the film and they also inform the review. Mostly, they force us not to slip into a passive mind frame when we are watching film. We remain actively engaged, and it centers us for all the important work that happens when the film is over.
